PURPOSE: A UART(Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) serial communication controlling device and method is provided to control the UART serial communication by using a status register for setting each state of the multi-processor, and a mode register for setting a normal mode and a test mode so that it is possible to simultaneously send the same data to a plurality of processors irrespective of a baud rate. CONSTITUTION: The controller comprises a monitor port(301), a multiplexor(302), a plurality of processors(303-307), a plurality of decoders(303a-307a), and a register(308). The multiplexor(302) controls a data access path between the monitor port(301) and the multi-processor. The processors(303-307), connected to the multiplexor(302), performs the UART serial communication with users via a monitor port. The decoders(303a-307a) decodes data for selection of a processor. The register(308), including a status register(308a) and a test register(308b), selects a processor and sets a motion mode according to the decoding result.
