PURPOSE: An electric connector and a method for preparing the electric connector for soldering are provided to reduce the insertion resistance when fixing the electric connector to a matching electric connector by forming holding spring strips with stainless steel of high elasticity. CONSTITUTION: An electric connector(8) includes an outer shell(30) formed of conductive material and having ground legs(32) formed of stainless steel at a top part, an insulating body(10), a set of metal terminals(20) mounted to the insulating body and extended outwardly, and a plurality of holding spring strips(31) formed at top and side walls of the outer shell, wherein a metal coating layer formed of one of nickel, tin, or lead is deposited on the ground legs with a rough surface formed by acid pickling of the ground legs before the deposition.
