The device has a rotation/translation-reduction gearbox (28) driven in rotation by an electric motor, a working piston (16) movable in a working cylinder by the gearbox and a brake lining piston (12) movable in a cylinder that interacts with the working cylinder. The rotation/translation-reduction gearbox can be brought into mechanical engagement with the brake lining piston, whereby the brake lining piston can be displaced.
