The method involves continuously acquiring image data for persons in commercial premises on-line, preferably with a digital camera, forming characteristic patterns using face recognition software and outputting a warning if the characteristic pattern from the image data agrees significantly with a pattern already stored in a database. The method can be used on the membership of an organization and the database updated at regular intervals.
