PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing cotton yarn and woven/knitted fabrics having hardly beakable voids or hollows and so improved properties such as bulkiness, warm feeling and soft feeling and so improved in bulkiness as to have unconventional bulky raised feeling, by previous swelling and shrinking of cotton fiber of yarns and woven/knitted fabrics by alkali treatment in high concentrations at low temperatures and then alkali reduction of the resultant in low concentrations at high temperatures. SOLUTION: This method for producing bulky cotton yarn or cotton woven/ knitted fabrics is characterized by comprising previous alkali treatment in high concentrations at low temperatures or liquid ammonia treatment of a dual structural yarn or woven/knitted fabric and then alkali reduction of the resultant in low concentrations at high temperatures; wherein the dual structural yarn or woven/knitted fabric is formed of a core comprising a mixed yarn or woven/knitted fabric of cotton yarn with a readily alkali-soluble polyester fiber or a readily alkali-soluble polyester fiber, and cotton fiber covering the core.
