PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melting method of a high manganese steel with which even in the case of adopting the combined decarburizing technique for charging an inexpensive ferro-high manganese alloy into molten steel, decarburizing velocity needed to the vacuum-decarburizing treatment time can be secured and the vaporized loss of the manganese in the molten steel can be restrained at lower rate than that of the conventional method. SOLUTION: In the melting method of the high manganese-contained steel with which when the molten steel roughly decarburized in a refining furnace is tapped into a ladle in non-deoxidizing state, the manganese content is adjusted by charging the ferro-high manganese alloy into this molten steel and thereafter, oxygen is top-blown into the molten steel in the ladle in a vacuum-degassing vessel, and after performing the vacuum-decarburizing, deoxidizing agent is added to perform the degassing, vacuum degree in the above vacuum-degassing vessel is adjusted so as to become 40-100 Torr to perform the above vacuum- decarburizing.
