PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block for a retaining wall having the sufficient structural strength, reducing material necessary for connecting the blocks, the labors necessary for constructing the retaining wall, and the dangerousness, and capable of corresponding to planting, and to provide a method of constructing the retaining wall using the same. SOLUTION: When plural blocks for retaining wall are laterally arranged, an vertically stacked, connecting poles 34 and 44 for the connection at a position of an upper vertex of a triangle, among three connecting poles of laterally arranged blocks of a lower row and one of two connecting poles 85 and 86 for the connection at a position of a vertex at a bottom side of the triangle among the three connecting poles of the blocks laterally arranged on the blocks of the lower row and stacked in an upper direction, are respectively connected.
