摘要 PURPOSE: A method for driving a liquid crystal display panel whose brightness can be controlled and a control method thereof are provided, which can control a brightness of an LCD panel variously according to a screen brightness mode, and also can control a brightness in a reflective type LCD device not using a backlight unit. CONSTITUTION: A timing controller(10) receives digital video signals(R,G,B), a horizontal synchronous signal(H_sync), and a vertical synchronous signal(V_sync), and determines an output timing of the digital video signals and outputs a row driving signal. A gray voltage generation part(20) selects a maximum gray voltage(V_MAX) and a minimum gray voltage(V_MIN) and outputs a plurality of middle gray voltages(V1-V9) by dividing between the maximum gray voltage and the minimum gray voltage, in response to a brightness selection signal(B_MODE) from the external. Column driver ICs(30_1-30_n) receive gray voltages(V1-V10) from the gray voltage generation part, and provide analog video signals corresponding to the digital video signals to column lines. Row drive ICs(40_1-40_m) receive a row line driving signal from the timing controller and provide the row driving signal to each row line of an LCD panel(50) in sequence.
