PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilized aromatic polymer which is applicable in the field of medical treatment or food industry and has non-adhesiveness to a protein, biocompatibility, good mechanical properties and heat resistance. SOLUTION: The hydrophilized aromatic polymer is characterized in that the main chain of the polymer is composed of repeating units having their respective aromatic rings to at least one of which a side chain having hydrophilic vinyl polymer regions is covalently bonded provided that the hydrophilic vinyl polymer regions have a total electric charge of zero. There are disclosed a method for producing the hydrophilized aromatic polymer and a use for a selective permeation membrane or a catheter.
