PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery for enhancing charging efficiency under a high temperature without lowering the utilization factor of a positive electrode. SOLUTION: In the alkaline storage battery having non-sintered positive electrode having nickel hydroxide as an active material, a negative electrode having a hydrogen storage alloy as an active material, a separator and electrolyte made of alkaline aqueous solution, nickel hydroxide forming solid solution of cobalt, zinc and manganese and having particle surface coated with titanium oxide and cobalt hydroxide is used as the active material of the positive electrode. As coating amount of titanium oxide and cobalt hydroxide, it is desirable that titanium in titanium oxide is 0.003 to 0.3 wt.% for nickel hydroxide and cobalt in cobalt hydroxide is 2 to 6 wt.%. It is desirable that forming solid solution amount of cobalt, zinc and manganese is 0.5 to 2 wt.%, 0.5 to 5 wt.% and 0.5 to 3 wt.%, respectively, for the nickel hydroxide. |
