PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wasteful consumption of lubricating oil reserved in a space part in the case of providing a breather passage to communicate the closed type space part which an internal combustion engine has to an air intake passage. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine 10 is furnished with a cylinder 20 projectively provided on a crankcase 16, air intake passages 25, 35 free to introduce air 13 by communicating an outside of the cylinder 20 to a combustion chamber 24 in this cylinder 20, the closed type space part 41 free to reserve lubricating oil and a breather passage 42 to communicate this space part 41 to the air intake passages 25, 35. The breather passage 42 is divided into an upstream side passage 45 to constitute the side of the space part 41 and a downstream side passage 47 to constitute the air intake passages 25, 35, and another space part 50 having a cross-sectiona area larger than each of cross-sectional areas of these downstream side end part 45a and upstream side end part 47a is interposed between the downstream side end part 45a of the upstream side passage 45 and the upstream side end part 47a of the downstream side passage 47.
