PURPOSE: A source driver of a flat display device is provided to reduce a load on the source driver by converting an image signal into an image signal of a step waveform before transferring it to a pixel. CONSTITUTION: The source driver comprises a latch circuit(11), a multiplexer(12), a D/A(Digital to Analog) converter(13) and a middle value storing circuit(14). If a digital image signal is inputted to a source driver circuit(10), a control circuit(30) generates a control signal(LC) and a selection signal(SC). And the latch circuit latches the image signal in response to the control signal. The middle value storing circuit can receive a signal from the external or can store a signal of a low voltage level by being controlled by the control circuit. If the selection signal is activated at the same time as the control signal, the multiplexer outputs the signal of low voltage level of the middle value storing circuit. Then, if the selection signal is inactivated, the multiplexer outputs the original latched image signal. The output image signal is converted to an analog signal through the D/A converter and then is transferred to pixels of a flat display panel(20).
