PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder wherein the feed of a taped electric component and the feed of a cover tape are performed on the basis of the drive of a common drive device installed at the outside and the cover tape is not wound on a reel. SOLUTION: A first feed device 122 feeds the taped electric component 100. A second feed device 132 feeds the cover tape 104 stripped from a carrier tape by a tension application device 310 so as to be housed in a housing box 134. The feed rate of the cover tape 104 is set to be larger than the feed rate of the electric component 100. Whenever the cover tape 104 is fed, it becomes short between its stripping position and a drive gear 120 a tension application lever 314 is turned, a release roller 336 turns a ratchet claw 234 its engagement with a ratchet wheel 218 is removed, and a state that one feed of the cover tape 104 is omitted is obtained. As a result, the tension of the cover tape 104 is reduced, its break or the like is not generated, and the cover tape 104 can be fed with a large force.
