PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a discharge lamp having a long service life and capable of preventing leakage in a seal part during the working and cracking due to the thermal deflection. SOLUTION: A light emitting tube 1 has a pair of electrodes 5 and 6 inside thereof, and has an elliptic light emitting part 2 forming a discharge space and seal parts 3 and 4 in both ends of this light emitting part 2. Non-seal parts 11 and 12 are provided continuously to an opposite side of the light emitting part side of each seal part 3 and 4, and an ultraviolet rays cutting glass tube 16 is formed of a central part 13 and holding parts 14 and 15 provided continuously to both ends of the central part 13. A discharge lamp A is formed by inserting the light emitting tube 1 into the glass tube 16, and melting the non- seal parts 11 and 12 and the holding parts 14 and 15 for integral structure.
