PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for heat treatment of a gear by the laser in which a hardened layer of a surface of a tooth space of the gear of various shapes and sizes can be unified without any complicate adjustment. SOLUTION: Two laser beams 1 of elliptical shape with optical axes parallel to each other are irradiated on the gear 2 from the vertical direction to a root surface so that the longitudinal direction of the beam 1 is aligned with the circumferential direction of the gear 2, and the apex of each power density of the beams 1 is located on a side wall surface, and the beam spot is shifted in the axial direction of the gear 2. The apex part of the power density is irradiated on the side wall surface in which the laser beam 1 is incident at the angle of <90 deg. and the energy absorption ratio is low while the part of low power density is irradiated on the root surface in which the laser 1 is incident at the angle of substantially 90 deg., and the energy absorption ratio is high, and the heat input is unified over the whole tooth space, and the hardened layer of the tooth space is also unified. Since the two beams 1 are irradiated on the gear 2 with the optical axes thereof parallel to each other, a space regulating means for regulating the space between the two beams can be simplified. |
