The invention relates to an internal gear pump for delivering fuel in an internal combustion engine. Said pump comprises an internal geared annular gear (11) and an external geared pinion (3), which interacts with the annular gear (11) for producing a pump action. In order to increase the delivery capacity during a starting rotational speed and to prolong the serviceable life of the internal gear pump, the pinion (3) is mounted on a bearing shaft end (5) in a manner that is eccentric to the annular ring (11) and such that it can radially move. A device (12) is also provided, which compensates for the radial play (R) between the pinion (3) and the annular ring (11).
