The invention relates to a switch for sorting and guiding parts, especially plastic workpieces. The switch has rods (21,31) which can be moved axially parallel to each other and on which lines (51) are located. Said lines guide the parts concerned into at least two different receiving elements, forming either a slope or leaving an opening in the centre, depending on a predeterminable rod position. The invention is characterised in that the rods (21,31) correspond to guiding elements (22,23,32,33) by which means the rods are essentially horizontally movable; in that drive devices are provided enabling the rods to be moved towards or away from each other along their longitudinal axes, independently of each other; and in that the length of the lines (51) can be modified depending on the position of the rods. The invention also relates to a method for sorting and guiding parts.
