The system of protection is used in the manufacture of CD-ROM or DVD-ROM discs. It offers much higher degree of protection by preventing any copying of the records from the original disc. A protection (3) ring is formed on the surface of the CD-ROM disc in the middle of which a control ring (4) is fitted having predetermined polar coordinates. When a CD-ROM disc is fitted in the CD-ROM reproducing device the protection code is originally performed, the polar coordinates of the control ring (4) are decoded and a check is made whether it is found at the preset position which acknowledges the originality of the CD-ROM disc and starts the performance of the recording. 8 claims, 1 figure
