Production of relief-patterned fabric on a warp knitting machine, prevents crossing of the front and rear pattern threads by a clamping strategy, with removal of the rear pattern thread section

Pattern-forming threads are supplied by their needles in at least two successive offset rows. Crossing of rear pattern threads clamped in a first position by front pattern threads is prevented. Before crossing, the rear pattern thread at the front is offset to a second clamping position lying outside the crossing region. The section of rear pattern thread running between first and second clamping locations is removed. An Independent claim is also included for the corresponding warp knitting machine including pattern thread laying needles (30, 31) in at least two offset rows. A controller (42) prevents crossing of the rear pattern thread (28b) by a front pattern thread (28a).
