COLOR FILTER AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter with columnar projections for setting the thickness of a liquid crystal layer and a transparent protective layer and to provide a method for producing the color filter. SOLUTION: The color filter has a transparent protective layer 6 comprising a cured body based on an alkali-insoluble silicon-containing resin and transparent columnar projections 7 comprising a cured body based on a photosensitive resin incompatible with the silicon-containing resin and formed at plural prescribed parts on a substrate in,such a way that the projections 7 project from the protective layer. The color filter is produced through a first step in which a colored layer 5 having plural colors in a prescribed pattern is formed on a substrate 2 and a resin composition containing the alkali-insoluble silicon- containing resin and the photosensitive resin incompatible with the silicon- containing resin is applied to form a resin layer comprising a lower layer based on the silicon-containing resin and an upper layer based on the photosensitive resin, a second step in which the resin layer is exposed through a photomask with openings for forming the columnar projections and a third step in which the upper layer of the resin layer is alkali-developed and the resin layer is heated.
