RADIO COMMUNICATION APPARATUS AND RADIO COMMUNICATION METHOD

A radio communication apparatus and method for allowing communication systems using different frequency bands (a first system and a second system using a lower frequency than that of the first system) to be switched without using any frequency switching means of a frequency synthesizer. On the transmitting side, the values of transmission intermediate frequencies (outputs f11 and f12 of synthesizer 106) in the first and second systems are set in the vicinity of (ft1 ft2)/2 (where ft1 and ft2 are transmission frequencies in the first and second systems), and when the first and second system are used, lower and upper local arrangements are employed, respectively. Similarly, on the receiving side, the reception intermediate frequencies (outputs f41 and f42 of synthesizer 125) in the first and second systems are set in the vicinity of (fr1 fr2)/2 (where fr1 and fr2 are reception frequencies in the first and second systems), and when the first and second systems are used, the lower and upper local arrangements are employed, respectively.
