PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium - manganese positive electrode material and a lithium battery totally having all of three kinds of characteristics for determining the quality of the battery, that is, a high capacity, a cycle characteristic and a rate characteristic. SOLUTION: This lithium - manganese positive electrode material has composition of Li1+xMn2-x-yAlyO4 (0.03<=x<=0.07, 0.07<=y<=0.20) and this lithium battery has the above positive electrode material. By increasing or decreasing the content of aluminum, the specific surface area value can be controlled, whereby the value of the rate characteristic related to the specific surface area can be controlled. Accordingly, it is possible to obtain the positive electrode and the lithium battery totally having all of high capacity, cycle characteristic and rate characteristic. |
