PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily reuse data and to easily deal with the faults of a telephone set or buying for exchange as well by almost completely preventing the erasure of the data, even without especially consciously performing work for backup by a user. SOLUTION: A data backup device 14 has a connecting terminal 22 for charge connected to a charging terminal 20 of a portable telephone set 12 and a connecting terminal 26a for information transmission connected to an external information equipment connecting terminal 24a. When the portable telephone set 12 is mounted on the data backup device 14 for storage, while being linked with this storage, the data backup device 14 automatically reads data which are stored in the portable telephone set 12 and contain control information at least, to be backed up via the connecting terminal 26a for information transmission; and while being linked with this read, these data are automatically transmitted via a communication modem or the like to a database center 16.
