PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for obtaining a desired curvature by bending a roll formed of a composite material without generating any excessive tension. SOLUTION: A shaft journal 12 is supported on a supporting device 13 surrounding the shaft journal 12 by at least two bearing elements 14 and 15 disposed in the axial direction X-X with intervals therebetween, and a part of the supporting device 13 is supported by a machine frame body R. The first bearing elements 14 and 15 are supported on the supporting element 13 via bending mechanisms 20 and 21, and the bending mechanisms are used for applying the force to the first bearing elements 14 and 15 in the radial direction. Thus, the first bearing elements 14 and 15 are deflected with respect to the axis X-X of the roll in a straight condition, and the shaft journal 12 is bent with respect to pivot points formed on the second bearing elements 14 and 15, and the bending moment is applied to a roll shell 11.
