PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for manufacturing optical fiber preforms are provided, which is characterized in that a triple main torch deposits glass particles on a core rod homogeneously. Accordingly, the resultant optical fibers have improved optical transmission properties in a range of long wavelength compared with conventional optical fibers manufactured by a single burner. CONSTITUTION: The manufacturing method of optical fiber preforms is as follows: installing a main multitorch of an oxyhydrogen flame, being composed of three torches(101, 102, 103) arranged at intervals of 120deg.C based on the cross section of the preform, on a bed(130) which deposits glass particles on a core rod(120) in a spiral way; fixing intervals between torches and position, considering the rotational speed of target and moving speed of torch; and growing preforms with the surface deposition rate of glass particles and homogeneity controlled. |
