PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel hydrogen storage battery capable of reducing the manufacturing cost, lengthening the cycle life and causing little self discharge. SOLUTION: This nickel hydrogen storage battery is provided with a positive electrode including nickel hydroxide, a negative electrode including a hydrogen absorbing alloy, a separator layer interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode and an electrolyte including an alkali aqueous solution. The separator layer is formed of water absorptive polymer, a water repellent agent and an alkali aqueous solution.
