PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus having a multi-function at a low cost that has at least two kinds of original read operation modes suitable for applications and is provided individually with a read means with respect to each mode. SOLUTION: A contact sensor 114 moved in a direction A reads an original 110 on a contact glass 111. An ADF 122 feeds the original 120 to be set to an original tray 121 and a contact sensor 124 reads the original 120. The original reader having the contact sensor 114 and the original reader having the contact sensor 124 are independently in operation and black/white and color modes, a read resolution, a read size, and a read speed or the like can independently be set.
