In an image forming apparatus in which a plurality of image making unit are disposed along a moving direction of a transfer material, and developing units and carrier units thereof are individually independently attachably and detachably mounted to an image forming apparatus body, in order for guide members for guiding the developing units and the carrier units to be reduced in number, a carrier unit of an image making unit and a developing unit of an image making unit neighboring the image making unit is guided by a common guide member fixed to a frame of the image forming apparatus body.
