PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of vibration and noise at a flange, caused by electromagnetic vibration generated at a stator by the alternating current supplied to a stator coil or the transmission of rotational vibration of a rotor, received by a shaft, through the flange. SOLUTION: In this spindle motor of outer rotor type, where the shaft 2 and the stator 3 secured on the flange 1, damping materials 4, 5 are between the flange 1 and the stator 3 and between the flange 1 and the shaft 2, or the flange 1 itself is formed out of the damping material, thus the damping materials become damp and absorb electromagnetic vibrations from the stator 3 and rotational vibrations from the shaft 2.
