The inlaid pieces are rough natural- or artificial stone with irregular surfaces. Their width is at least three times their thickness. The supporting layer is held in a mold holder and is effectively impermeable, does not bond with the inlaid pieces and is removable. It is adequately dimensionally-stable. It is selected from: elastomeric plastics, thermoplastics, kneaded masses, modeling masses, Plasticene (RTM; modeling material) or wax. It is spread out to form a casing mold. An inlaid piece is bedded into the supporting layer, up to about half its thickness. Flowing casting mass is allowed to set on the supporting layer. Interspaces of inlaid pieces are at least partially filled by casting, and setting occurs. The supporting layer is removed, leaving no residue.
