The invention relates to a method for regenerating N-C-N-type compounds from a sulphur scavenging product, according to which the N-C-N compound removes a sulphur atom from a sulphur compound. The N-C-N compound, having a structure which corresponds to the general formula (I): wherein n is an integer number ranging between 1 and 100, each of R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 is independently selected from among: hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated, linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbon having 1 to 20 carbon atoms in the chain, a substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated, linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbon having 1 to 20 carbon atoms in the chain and comprising at least one heteroatom selected from a group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur and halogen, is mixed with a nitrogen compound having a structure which corresponds to the general formula (II): wherein each of R6 and R7 are selected from among hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated, linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbon having 1 to 20 carbon atoms in the chain, a substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated, linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbon having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms in the chain, comprising at least one heteroatom selected from a group consisting of boron, nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur and halogen and a substituted or unsubstituted polymeric chain and the salts thereof, and an alkaline earth and transition metal alkaline compound, in order to form at first a solution, a slurry or a dispersion. The heterocompound is reacted with said nitrogen compound in the presence of the alkaline compound and of a solvent, at a temperature ranging between 25 and 105 degree C, the pH value of the solution being possibly corrected from 8 to 13.
