发明名称 Improvements in and relating to batteries of accumulators and bench for charging this battery
摘要 774,605. Batteries. COMPAGNIE AUXILIAIRE DES MINES. Jan. 3,1955 [Jan. 4,1954; Nov. 17, 1954], No. 55/55. Class 53. [Also in Group XXXVII] A secondary battery for miners' lamps &c. has a sealed casing 1 with a cover 2 accommodating a microcommutator C and a microswitch R actuated by an externally disposed electromagnet E. The commutator C has four contacts a-d (Fig. 7) and a movable blade 49 and the switch R has two contacts e, f, Figs. 8, 9, and a movable blade 49a. Both blades 49 and 49a are operated by a longitudinally movable rod Fig. 7, actuated by the external electromagnet. Figs. 8 and 9 show respectively the charging and discharging circuit of the battery 11 and the positions of the blades 49, 49a relatively to the contacts a-f. When the battery is charging the gas evolved is connected in a chamber 21 communicating with the accumulators via a nozzle 17 and passageways 22, 23 provided in a plug 22. The gas is finally discharged through two small orifices 24, 25, Fig. 3 (not shown). When the battery is on load in the mine, the orifices 24, 25 prevent entry of explosive gases, because of the presence of the accumulator gas in the collector 21 discharged therein during the previous battery charging. Fig. 10 shows a charging bench comprising a plank 66 carrying the batteries B, a support 69 having a metal bracket 82 clamping the batteries and three parallel supports 70, 70a, 70b. The support 70 carries transformers T<SP>1</SP>, one for each battery; the support 70a carries underneath it a case 73 containing a rectifier 61, a switch 75 and a signal lamp 74. The support 70b carries a number of electromagnets E, one for each battery. The circuit for charging a battery B is shown in Fig. 14 which includes a battery 86 to supply current to the main attraction winding 84 and the auxiliary retaining winding 85 of the electromagnet E. Fig. 15 shows another charging stand comprising two supports 102, 102a and a centre support 103. The latter serves to position pairs of batteries B, B<SP>1</SP> and to carry an inverted U- shaped member 106. The various electromagnet devices belonging to a pair of batteries B, B<SP>1</SP> are located between the support 103 and the member 106. A further support 112 carries two switches 111, 111a having push button 113, 113a respectively. The switches 111, 111a are connected in parallel as in Fig. 16 (not shown), so that when either of them is closed current flows in the electromagnet coil 110. The latter has a tubular magnetic core 108 with a permanent magnet bar 107 inside it. The force of the resultant flux due to the coil flux and the magnet 107 attracts the magnetic heads 57 of the respective switch rods 51. When the push buttons 113, 113a are released, the force due to the magnet 107 is sufficient to continue to hold the rod heads 57 in the charging position as in Fig. 17 (not shown).
