PURPOSE: An array substrate for a liquid crystal display and a method of fabricating the array substrate are provided, the array substrate having no short-circuiting of a shorting bar and a transparent electrode, to improve yield of the liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: An array substrate for a liquid crystal display includes a substrate(122), a thin film transistor(T) that is formed on the substrate and configured of a gate electrode(126), source and drain electrodes(128,130), a pixel electrode(P) connected to the drain electrode, and a gate line(113) that is connected to the gate electrode and has a gate pad formed at the end. The array substrate further has a data line(115) that is connected to the drain electrode and has a data pad formed at the end, the first shorting bar(129) to which odd-numbered data lines are connected, and the second shorting bar(132) to which even-numbered data lines are connected. The array substrate also has an island-shaped electrode port(143) connecting the first and second shorting bars with the data lines, and an island-shape laminated pattern(151) configured of a protection layer(137) and an active layer(133'), formed on a portion of the first shorting bar where even-numbered data pads and electrode port connecting the second shorting bar intersect to each other.
