METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING SIGNAL

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for transmitting a signal are provided to offer a splendid mass storage OSD(Open Software Description) as providing digital AV(Audio/Video) contents in real-time by transmitting a splendid mass storage graphic OSD with an analog interface. CONSTITUTION: An AV data source(120) encodes digital AV contents and transmits it by an MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) TS(Transport Stream) format. An OSD generator(130) generates an OSD for presenting a state and a moving situation of equipment to control. In case of transmitting the OSD by an analog path, a D/A(Digital/Analog) converter(140) converts the OSD of the OSD generator(130) into an analog signal. A signal output equipment(100) transmits the digital AV contents. The controller(110) controls the AV data source(120) and distinguishes storage of the OSD in an OSD display mode. The controller determines whether the transmission path of the OSD is analog or digital, and transmits the determined result to equipment presenting the OSD generator(130) and the digital AV contents. An MPEG decoder(220) processes an MPEG TS signal and outputs a video and an audio signal. An image processor(230) compounds the video signal of the MPEG decoder(220) into the OSD of the signal output equipment(100). An image display unit(240) displays on a screen the digital AV contents and the OSD by inputting the image output signal of the image processor(230).
