PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera which can easily switch a photographing state and a reproduction state and which is superior in operability. SOLUTION: The electronic camera is for displaying a photographing picture. It is provided with a first picture display means 23 which is used by permitting a user to look into it, a second picture display means 24 which displays the photographing picture and whose display size is larger than the first picture display means, an operation means 27 for giving an instruction to switch picture display from one display means to the other one in the first picture display means and the second picture display means with a first operation and giving an instruction to set a camera mode to a reproduction mode with a second operation, and a photographing preparation instructing means 27 for preparing photographing at a photographing mode and giving an instruction to change the camera mode to the photographing mode at the camera mode except for the photographing mode.
