PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a part mounting method and device which can reduce a time required for storing and inserting a support pin at the time of switching the kind, and can enhance operating efficiency. SOLUTION: In a part mounting method and device, parts are mounted in a head part to a substrate supported by a plurality of support pins standing in a table part, and the support pin draws out of and plugs in the table part in a chuck part in each kind of the substrates. When a position of the support pin is switched by switching of the kind of the substrates, the chuck part retrieves a position which does not interfere with the support pin other than a switching object, and when a non-interference is present, the support pin is not stored in a support pin storing part provided outside the table part, and is directly moved from a current support pin layout to a next support pin layout, and the number of times of moving the support pin to the support pin storing part is decreased.
