PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a software management system which improves the reliability of processing of software that is distributed on a wide area network. SOLUTION: A center server 1 is provided with a script 12 on which the operation of an application 11 is described and a fault controlling means 13 for coping with the time when a fault takes place, and a local server 3 is provided with a network oriented language performance environment 31, a remote managing means 32 for downloading and eliminating the application, a script interpreting means 33, and a high reliability means 34 for recording event information that takes place while the application is carried out and performing information management and restoration processing when the fault takes place. The safe and reliable operation of software downloaded through the wide area network 2 is ensured and in case abnormality occurs, a function for supporting fault information collection and restoration is provided.
