PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline dry cell with a stable explosion-proof security mechanism, by increasing the capacitance through making a battery case thin- walled and also by securing the strength of a sealed part. SOLUTION: This is an alkaline dry cell equipped with a metal dry cell case in which a power generation element is housed, and with a terminal board and a resin made sealing body which seal the opening part of the dry cell case, wherein the sealing body has a central cylindrical part which retains a negative electrode current collector joined with the terminal board, a circumferential cylindrical part intervening between the opening end of the dry cell case and the terminal board, and thin-wall which works as a safety valve, and wherein the opening end of the dry cell case is folded so as to cover the upper end of the circumferential cylindrical part of the sealing body, and by caulking the folded part inwardly, the peripheral part of the terminal board is tightened via an insulation ring.
