PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good head touch over the inner and outer peripheries of a magnetic disk of a magnetic disk cartridge which is rotatably housed with the disk-shaped magnetic disk medium fixed with a center core to the central part within a flat cartridge case and is formed with a hole for disposing the base surface of the center core so as to face the outside on the base surface of the cartridge disk by rotating the magnetic disk within a horizontal plane. SOLUTION: The cartridge case C is constituted by a base plate 2 which is formed with the recessed part 21 for housing the magnetic disk medium having the at least partly flat inside base surface 21a on the top surface and an upper cover case 3 and lower cover case 4 which are respectively deposited on the top and under surfaces of the base plate 2. The thickness L10 of the air gap between the rotary surface R of the magnetic disk medium 10 and the flat inside base surface 21a of the recessed part 21 for housing the magnetic disk medium is set thinner than the thickness L11 of the air gap between the rotary surface R and an inner peak surface 3b of the upper cover case 3.
