PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device which can inform a source of statuses of images such as resolution, equi-multiple/reduction, double-face/ single-face, or the like of the images transmitted to a final transfer destination, and also is small in a load when functioning as a repeater. SOLUTION: Associated with destination information such as telephone number of a transfer destination 300, information on communication capability such as resolution, record width, maximum record length, presence/absence of double-face reception function, or the like is stored in a RAM 7 of a facsimile device 200. When an image to be transferred is received from a source 100, a main control unit 1 responds to the source 100 by a communication procedure signal (DIS signal) containing the information on communication capability of the transfer destination 300 stored in the RAM 7, as the information of communication capability of the destination.
