PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantity managing method and mechanism for rolled printed matter, such as postage stamps, revenue stamps and certificate stamps. SOLUTION: In this quantity management method and mechanism for rolled printed matter such as postage stamps, revenue stamps and certificate stamps, a deep color printed part is applied to a belt-like printed matter in front and in rear of the central part for a fixed number of sheets on the winding core side and a fixed number of sheets on the opposite side. A hole is bored in the terminal position of the deep color printed part, and a first color mark sensor is disposed a specific number of sheets ahead of the deep color printed part from the position. A borderline between white and deep color other than white on the belt-like printed matter is confirmed by the first color mark sensor, the overall unit printed picture pattern numbers are counted, and a web is fed, and a cutter in a cutting position is operated to form one roll. A second color mark sensor is located backward for a fixed number of sheets from the cutting position, and a borderline between white and a deep color other than white located backward for a fixed number of sheets from the cutting position is confirmed by the sensor. In cutting the entering of a fixed number of sheets on the using start side of the preceding roll is confirmed to secure the amount of a single roll.
