Class 20(3) A frame 2 for a vehicle window is generally of double channel form the inner and outer walls 4, 4 of the channels 5, 6 being extended by shallow and long walls 8, 7 respectively so that when the frame is mounted in an opening in the vehicle body 1 the wall 7 overlaps the outside of the opening surround, the space between the two walls acting as a pon for receiving a resilient buttress strip 9 which presses against the internal face of the body 1 and is retained by the shallow wall 8. A rib 15 on the strip 9 fits under a rib 16 on the longer wall 7, the edge of the opening in the body 1 being embraced by a U-shaped member 17, the inner edge 18 of which is turned over to overlap the corresponding edge of the strip 9. The member 17, made e.g. of thin sheet metal, may be slotted transversely to enable it to be bent into arcuate form. The outer and inner channels 5, 6 accommodate respectively fixed and sliding panes 10, 11, the sliding pane 11 being provided with a handle portion 13 on a channel member 12 fitted over one edge of the pane 11 and having a groove to accommodate a resilient weather strip 14. In a modification the frame is generally of channel form to accommodate a single pane.</p> |
