摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate unevenness and dispersion of brightness of emitted light, and to eliminate color dispersion when a multicolor light source is used. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display panel 14 is illuminated by installing a transparent and approximately square plate-shaped light guide plate 13 which is housed in and fixed to a holder 12 on a substrate 11, and a multicolor LED 15 arranged near to the middle part of an end part 13a of the light guide plate 13. An arc-shaped slit 17 is formed at neighboring area of a light receiving surface of a concave part 16 formed at the side end surface of one end part 13a of the light guide plate 13, and a rough surface 18 is formed on the surface of the slit 17 at distant side from the LED 15 and the light receiving surface by creping process. A thick walled tapered part 13b with tapered cross section gradually reducing the thickness from one end part with thick wall toward the other end, is formed at one end 13a of the light guide plate. By the above, it is enabled to light up the light guide plate evenly with adequate volume of light without dispersion, while aiming at small and thin construction.
