PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved bias layer for an MR sensor. SOLUTION: A bias layer for a magnetoresistance(MR) sensor comprises an in-plane magnetizing facilitation axis which applies vertical bias to the MR layer. The bias layer comprises cobalt(Co), and is formed on various base material layer comprising such crystal structure as promoting in-plane conformity of C-axis of the Co. A preferred lower side layer includes nickel - aluminum(NiAl) and magnecium oxide(MgO), and an intermediate layer comprising chrome(Cr) may be inserted between the bias layer and the base material layer.
