PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device by which secret information obtained by communications can be easily and reliably protected against misplacement or theft of it. SOLUTION: The portable terminal device is provided with a tracking and storing means 13 which stores the place 18 of storage of information downloaded from a communication network 3. The tracking and storing means 13 tracks and stores data from the place 18 of storage during download up to the storage place of the copy destination and the transfer destination. It is also provided with an automatic erasing means 15 which erases the downloaded information in the place 18 of storage stored in the tracking and storing means 13 upon completion of a specific application program 12.
