PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set, with which display ability or operability is improved by enlarging a display part or operating part, a case can be miniaturized or display part or operating part hardly becomes dirty. SOLUTION: An operating part 4 and a display part 3 are provided on the front 20A of a case 20, and a transmitting part 2 and a receiving part 1 are provided on the back 20B of the case 20. The display part 3 and the operating part 4 are vertically parallel located so that the display part 3 can be positioned on the upside and the operating part 4 can be positioned on the downside. The receiving part 1 and the transmitting part 2 are located at a vertical interval so that the receiving part 1 can be positioned on the upside and the transmitting part 2 can be positioned on the downside. A battery mounting part 5 is provided in the intermediate part on the back 20B of the case 20 between the receiving part 1 and the transmitting part 2.
