PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adequately manufacture a tape cassette which is aesthetically excellent and suppresses adhesion of flaws or the like to a cassette casing by subjecting upper and lower shell of the tape cassette to adequate coating even when the tape cassette is downsized and its shape is complicated. SOLUTION: The outer peripheral surface of the upper shell is subjected to coating in the state of placing the upper shell on a masking jig for the upper shell having the shape corresponding to the shape on the inner peripheral surface side of the upper shell and the outer peripheral surface of the lower shell is subjected to coating in the state of placing the lower shell on a masking jig for the lower shell having the shape corresponding to the shape on the inner peripheral surface side of the lower shell in a coating process step S2. The upper shell and the lower shell are respectively placed on the masking jig for the upper shell and the masking jig for the lower shell used in the coating process step 2 and are transported in this state to a drying furnace where the coatings of the outer peripheral surfaces of the upper shell and the lower shell are dried by heating in a drying process step S3.
