PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for inputting/outputting an image in which a highly accurate subject image having a color close to the real color of an, object inputted from an image input unit can be outputted. SOLUTION: The apparatus for inputting/outputting an image measures the color of an object at a plurality of points thereof by means of a colorimeter, and converts it into the color space of an output unit using the color characteristics thereof. On the other hand, a color space color of the output unit at the same point as that measured by the colorimeter is obtained by assuming an image from an input unit, as it is, as the drive signal of each output unit. Difference between two RGB values at these same positions is calculated as a color conversion quantity which is used for converting an image obtained from the input unit thus attaining an action for outputting a highly accurate object image having a color close to the real color of the object from the output unit.
