PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight electromagnetic shielding material which can sufficiently shield electromagnetic waves and can be manufactured at a low cost, and also provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic shielding material is made by first applying a coal composition, which comprises powdery coal, metal powder, and binder, on cloth or paper, and then pressing it with a pressure of 1-10 kg/cm2 by a roller. As for an amount of the coal composition to be applied on the cloth or paper, 1-10 mg/cm2 is preferable.
