PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select more input/output characteristics with a small number of signal end connections. SOLUTION: Two WDM optical couplers 12 and 14 of two-port are arranged in a pressure-resistant casing. Input optical fibers 16 and 18 are connected to the input ports X0 and X1 of the coupler 12 respectively, an output optical fiber 20 is connected to an output port Y0, and an output port Y1 is terminated by a non-reflection element (or an absorbing element) 22. Input optical fibers 24 and 26 are connected to the input ports X0 and X1 of the coupler 14 respectively, an output optical fiber 28 is connected to the port Y0, and the port Y1 is terminated by a non-reflection element (or an absorbing element) 30. The input/output characteristics between the ports X0 and Y0 (and between X1 and Y1) of the couplers 12 and 14, namely, through port characteristics, are the inverses of the input/output characteristics between the ports X0 and Y1 (and between X1 and Y0), namely, split port characteristics. |
